Welcome to Vallis First School

Welcome from Our Headteacher

Vallis First School is well-placed to be ‘the heart of Frome’. Our historic building perches at the top of the hill on Milk Street and we have fabulous views across the town from our lofty upstairs classrooms.

Our school is a family, surrounded by the warm embrace of our vibrant local community. The independent shops of Catherine Hill, Frome Museum, the library, and the Black Swan Art Gallery are just around the corner. Whatcombe Playing Fields, the river Frome and Welshmill Park are a five minute walk away. We can therefore incorporate Frome’s rich cultural heritage into our learning experiences, bringing knowledge to life. Visits out and inspirational visitors in, help us to create Frome’s new mini-artisans in the shape of builders, makers, designers, musicians and artists.

School should be an adventure, an opportunity to try new things, experience the wider world and light the spark of excitement for learning in every child, and adult! Children’s different backgrounds, languages, cultures and abilities are shared and celebrated. Our skilled and dedicated staff team take the time to really know our families and genuinely care about children’s progress and wellbeing. Our aim is to bring out the best in everyone, enabling them to develop a lifelong love for learning and understand the part they can play in building their community.

We warmly welcome visitors to Milk Street and would be pleased to tell you more about our ethos and how you can join us on the learning journey.
